Clients may buy new or used productive assets required by their companies through financial leasing contracts in exchange for the payment of a periodic fee for an agreed term. Upon completion of the contract, the purchase option agreed from the inception of the contract is exercised.

  • The asset seller must issue a sales invoice or billing statement for the movable or immovable asset. Bancoldex applies a 2.5% withholding on this invoice (advance on income tax).
  • The seller must foresee the tax effect on that sale since it may constitute a total income if there are not any associated costs.

  • The fee involves the payment of financial costs and capital amortization.

  • The fee is not subject to VAT.

  • An asset capital percentage is amortized in each fee; only the purchase option is paid in the end.
  • The depreciation expense over the useful life of the asset and the financial component expense generated are deductible from the income tax.
